BRIMESTONE HILL
THE GIBRALTER OF THE WEST INDIES
There is a
wonderful mystery waiting for you to discover on a holiday to St. Kitts.
It’s a revelation of a heritage site that will sure make your visit
complete. It’s a world of wonder – a fortress of goodwill and a thing of
beauty that will be your joy forever.
Yes – its
Brimstone Hill - an 18th Century fort of natural and historic
significance, that will take you back in time. You would have to see it
for yourself – bedecked is the red Poinciana flower that bespeaks the beauty
of the island in summer and in the cold months. The lush green foliage
caresses you gently as you are welcomed to this never-to-be forgotten site.
A visit to St. Kitts is hardly complete without it. Don't come and go back
without it. If you miss it, you may miss it all.
When you
are present in person at Brimstone Hill, you’ll lose yourself in time as you
will be down the corridors of time and see how our peoples got free, what
struggles they overcame, what victories they scored and see the evolution of
the plain we now call home. There’s so much to see, to learn, to savour, to
enjoy. You’ll want to go through a well laid out museum, and when you come
to the end you’ll want to do it all over again. I am on the inside, you’ll
have to come here to see what I truly mean. Brimstone Hill is a WORLD
WONDER!!
As you
stand at the summit beside large cannons, trained over the waters of the
Caribbean Sea, you could only picture the awesome power of the guns as they
warred in unison to defend the island. They had to, because St. Kitts was
the cradle of the British power in the Caribbean then. They had their
vested interest in the island, but that’s not what I want you to see - I
want for you to see tranquility at it’s best – the glass turquoise waters
stretching endless as far as the eyes can imagine and the sleepy town of
Sandy Point and it’s neighbors, nestled harmlessly below. As you stand upon
the dome of the rock, there’s so much to explore, what I wrote may excite
you – and make you plan multiple visits. Of course it will do its good, a
world of good.
Entrance
to Summit
Brimstone
Hill is a well thought out marriage of history and beauty. No visitor
should grace the shores of St. Kitts and never take time to pay a visit.
The beauty of nature with the rich foliage as one enters the winding road to
the hill-top takes the breath away. The history of the island, the
Caribbean, the Americas, unfold before your very eyes. I can’t oversell –
after you visit, you'll have your very own unique story to tell. Discover
yourself.
If you like
adventure, Brimstone Hill with its winding vines clasping and blossoming
foliage, well mown plains, winding steep tunnels, and panoramas of cascading
beauty would hypnotize you to be here in St. Kitts. The awesome power of a
restored fort, watching over a pristine laidback tower of Sandy Point, and
the call of the wild is something you dare not ignore. St. Kitts beckons - it
looms larger than life – and should be your next stop to explore. Plan Now.
Today in
this the 21st century, you would be just as stunned as the
Europeans of 300 years ago to see St. Kitts – a thing of beauty. The slave
labour that built Brimstone Hill performed a magnificent regiment feat to
put such a work of art together. Come see the skilled water catchment, the
tunnels, the stores, the personal skills of the men at work and decide if
you won’t consider Brimstone Hill as one of the World’s great wonders. Come
see and prove us wrong!!
At the
Summit
Lose
yourself in time as you let the Atlantic breeze hit you straight in the
face and rejuvenate you for a brand new day: For me, take your mind and let
it wander down the corridors of time while the lessons taught by the ages
are revealed one by one. Taste, feel, live – relive history! It’s here in
St. Kitts.
